UTICA NATIONAL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION 1981, INC.

Mr. William H. Holtzclaw founded the Utica Normal and Industrial Institute for the Training of Young Colored Men and Women in 1903. Mr. Holtzclaw guided the Utica Institute for forty years. Holtzclaw died in 1943. His son, William Holtzclaw, Jr. succeeded him as principal. In 1946, Holtzclaw Jr., and his mother, Mary Ella Holtzclaw agreed to donate the school and property to Hinds County. The County Board of Trustees assumed control of the Institute and changed the name to Hinds County Agricultural Hinds School, Colored. The Board of Trustees, in 1954, resolved to form Utica Institute Junior College, separate from the high school. In 1958, the Board changed the school's name from The Utica Institute Junior College to Utica Junior College. The Utica National Alumni Association (UNAA) was incorporated initially as Utica Junior College (UJC) National Alumni Association (UNAA) in 1981, before the merger of UJC and Hinds Junior College (HJC). In 1982, HJC merged with UJC, a Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). In 1987, HJC became the Hinds Community College (HCC) District with branches in Raymond (main campus), Jackson, Pearl, Utica, and Vicksburg. UJC was then renamed HCC – Utica Campus. The UNAA continued to function under the name. In 2018, after internal discussions within the association, the consensus of the members was to incorporate the association as the name of the various schools involved – Utica Junior College, Hinds Agricultural High School, HCC – Utica Campus. The Utica National Alumni Association consists of alumni of Hinds Agricultural High School, Utica Junior College, and Hinds Community College - Utica Campus.
Our Mission:
  • To widen the margin of membership to encompass all students who attended the Utica Normal and Industrial Institute, Utica Institute, Hinds County Agricultural High School, Utica Junior College, Hinds Community College – Utica Campus, for the continuing development of healthy fellowship among former students and friends.

Our Vision:
To promote the legacy of Mr. William H. Holtzclaw who founded the Utica Normal and Industrial Institute in1903; the name was later changed to Utica Junior College (UJC) and Hinds Agricultural High School (HAHS). UJC was merged with Hinds Junior College becoming Hinds Community College (HCC) – Utica Campus. HCC – Utica Campus is recognized as a Historically Black College and University. As the historical association of the only historically Black college in the Hinds Community College District, the Utica National Alumni Association has existed as an active membership since September 1972. With a strong focus on galvanizing the wide and diverse interests of the alumni population, we aim to activate chapters of service for building up and maintaining a mutual fellowship with members of the association and with our alma mater. The alumni will continue to protect the history of UJC, HAHS, and HCC – Utica Campus, and the future of Hinds Community College - Utica Campus.
